Treats from Matsimela Home Spa

Earlier this year I had a glorious full body massage when we visited Aquila Private Game Reserve’s new Tranquila Spa. The therapist used the most divine smelling massage medium and I just had to know what it was. I was very surprised to hear that it was a body butter. Body butters don’t usually make the best massage medium, in my experience, but this one, oh my! Delicious. And who makes this lil’ pot of gold? MatsiMela.

Who is is MatsiMela?

‘Matsimela is an indigenous word meaning “roots” and originates from the African language, Sotho. We are returning to our roots in all that we do to enrich you with our African heritage.

Our philosophy is to create a unique and ever-evolving product range that incorporates the finest natural ingredients selected for their beneficial properties. We endeavour to source our ingredients through rural communities in our commitment to make South Africa a better place for all.

The MatsiMela retail environments are classically African & modern in look and feel. With stone clad walls, glass shelves and perspex-lit middle unit tables on which the product is displayed, our stores call for a unique interactive African experience in which you, the consumer can willingly participate.

The MatsiMela Home Spa range of products is constantly growing and developing with the ethos of caring for yourself and the environment.

MatsiMela Home Spa is a premier Body Care Range that was developed by Wayne and Olivia Nel in 2005.

The MatsiMela Home Spa Range is inspired by their love for mother-nature and the fine botanical ingredients indigenous to Africa.

I was desperate to try one of their body butters at home as I couldn’t believe how amazing my skin felt after that massage. The kind people at MatsiMela sent me a few of their home spa products to try.

MatsiMela Home Spa Marula Nut Butter

The MatsiMela Marula Nut Butter is just as lovely as the one used during the massage. It smells amazing and feels incredible on my skin. It’s creamy and soothing and my dry skin laps it up. The brand says it’s excellent for dry skin that needs quenching, and I agree. The body butter retails for R145 for 200ml and I think that’s a great price for a great product.

MatsiMela Home Spa Marula Nut Bath Soak

Sadly, I have not tried the MatsiMela Marula Nut Kalahari Bath Soak yet. Why? No bathing allowed during the water crisis. But this antioxidant-rich soak is patiently waiting (as am I) for the rain to bring relief, and then it’s me, a handful of these delightfully scented salts and a huge glass of wine. The soak retails for R75. Again so well priced, don’t you think?

Head on over to their website HERE to treat yourself to some home spa goodness.

Happy shopping!
