Brand Focus: Nimue Skin Technologies

A couple of weeks ago I chatted to Annemarie Retief, the Cape Town Regional Education Manager of Nimue Skin Technologies and I was blown away by her passion for the brand and the products. Here is a little intro on Nimue: ‘The Nimue product range was initially developed in 1994 aimed at the medical market for pre- and post-operative application as well as for advanced results orientated skin rejuvenation treatment by skin care therapists. Nimue has since evolved into a globally recognized brand, primarily amongst leading skin care salons for its innovative formulations and cutting edge technology based on the effective combination of exceptional ingredients with scientifically proven delivery systems. The treatment formulations deliver optimal concentrations of pharmaceutical grade nutrients, cutting edge antioxidants, superior quality phytoceuticals, peptides and other powerful active ingredients where they are needed most – below the skin’s surface to actively improve skin health and appearance.’ Nimue is globally recognised for its modern skin classification concept (Environmentally Damaged Skin, Hyperpigmented Skin, Problematic Skin and Interactive) and unique philosophy based on four treatment pillars, Rejuvenation, Restoration, Antioxidation and Sun Protection.’ As you can see from the above, a tremendous amount of effort goes into the research and development of every single product to bring the user the most effective product possible. Nimue’s ultimate goal is healthier skin that functions optimally. And this in turn will bring visual results. Nimue also takes great care when choosing the finest quality ingredients for their products…  ingredients that ‘work in synergy to clear, refine and renew the skin down to its deeper layers’. Another thing that I was impressed with is...

Mommy Wellness Day Spa – Durbanville

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to try Mio’s Get Waisted Treatment (see the post HERE) at Mommy Wellness Day Spa in Durbanville. It was my first time visiting the spa, but it will surely not be the last. Mommy Wellness is a beautiful space that offers facial and body treatments, mani’s and pedi’s, waxes and even baby massage. They also offer a variety of Nimue’s advanced rejuvenation treatments and I want to go for one of those soon. They also do pamper parties for little girls that include spoils like mini facials, nail art and cupcakes. Best of all… if you give them a heads-up, there will be someone to entertain your little one while you get some well deserved me-time. Visit the Mommy Wellness Day Spa website to schedule a pamper session at their Durbanville branch or to find out more about the Panorama and Johannesburg branches. xoxo...

The FOREO LUNA™ is here! And I will be trying it out!

So many exciting cleansing devices have been introduced to us lately and they all have me super excited. The one that I have been most intrigued by is the FOREO LUNA™. First of all, it just looks completely different from the rest. Look at these beauties:   This is what FOREO has to say about the LUNA™ and its launch in South Africa… ‘The secret to the LUNA™ range’s global success is offering a completely new way to care for the skin using T-Sonic™ pulsations that are channeled through a unique brush surface of soft silicone touch-points. This groundbreaking combination allows for the effective yet gentle cleansing of dirt, oil and other impurities from the skin’s pores, leaving behind nothing but clearer, brighter and healthier-looking skin. Media, beauty experts, retailers and customers alike have fallen in love with the LUNA™ ranges smart, simple and stylish solutions that are easily incorporated into anyone’s lifestyle, and now, just in time for holiday shopping, the LUNA™ range will offer South Africans a range of beauty solutions that their loved ones will adore, and that may even inspire a bit of cheeky self gifting.’ And it is now just a click away. FOREO’s LUNA™ skincare range (which includes the LUNA™, the LUNA™ Mini and LUNA™ for Men) is available online from Zando. The LUNA™ retails for R2 790 and the LUNA™ Mini for R1 900. The gorgeous people at FOREO have sent me a LUNA™ for sensitive/normal skin and I can’t wait to get home to try it. I will be posting a detailed review after I’ve given it a proper test run. Thank you again...

Brand focus: Lipidol

When I heard that the makers of Bio-Oil were launching six new skincare oils, I was curious. When I heard that the products would be selling for R80 a pop at Clicks, I got excited. When I tried them, I was hooked. Lipidol is brand new range of skincare oils that launched in August 2014. The range consists of 6 oils. I love using oils for my face, body and hair so I don’t need a lot of convincing, but in case you do, here is why Lipidol says our skin needs oil: ‘The outermost layer of the skin is an oily layer. Its purpose is to hold moisture in the skin; an important function because moisture facilitates enzyme activity, which in turn leads to healthy, radiant skin. There are however occasions when moisture does escape. The main culprit is daily washing with soap, which strips away the skin’s oily layer. Another is a dry climate, which draws moisture from the skin into the outside air. Also, as the skin ages it produces less oil and it becomes harder to hold moisture in the skin. It is not possible to replace lost moisture by applying moisture to the skin as the skin’s moisture comes from within. The advantage of using oil in everyday skincare is that the skin’s natural oily layer is continually supplemented.’ I am currently using 5 of the products and I am very impressed. The quality is superb, the packaging is simple and you won’t find better in this price range. I will be posting my reviews on the individual products soon. My favourites so far...

Revlon supports Cancer.vive

Revlon is one of the key sponsors of the Cancer.vive project and they have created two looks inspired by the Cancer.vive bike ride that is taking place at this moment (see my post on this HERE). This make-look was created by Revlon SA make-up artist Vuyo Varoyi. Doesn’t Revlon South Africa Brand Ambassador Bonang Matheba look gorgeous?! I received the products used to create this look and was kinda wondering why all the purple… this is what Vuyo had to say about his colour choice: ‘In colour psychology purple represents power, creativity, wisdom, peace and magic. It has an uplifting effect on the spirit and it is also associated with vitality and feminine energy.’ Of course, the Pantone colour of the year is Radiant Orchid, a beautiful fuchsia purple, chosen to express joy, love and health – just perfect to embody the spirit of Cancer.vive. ‘Finally,’ he continues, ‘this great look works on all skin tones, from fair to dark.’ I have never used purple on my eyes before, but after reading that, I am Inspired to try. Nail artist Chi Chi created this fun look also inspired by the Cancer.vive bike ride. Cancer.vive is a campaign that really deserves your support. Have a look at my previous post HERE to see how you can help....

Cancer.vive – bringing a message of hope and inspiration

Cancer.vive is the dynamic awareness and education project of People Living with Cancer (PLWC) – an organisation of people, privileged to have survived cancer and who collaboratively strive to change the face of Cancer in SA. Cancer.vive believes that knowledge is power and this project aims to create awareness in order to educate and empower South Africans to recognise the symptoms and to seek the appropriate treatment. Cancer.vive also focuses on the so-called ‘shy’ cancers – those that people struggle to talk about freely and often go undetected because of fear, stigmas, cultural taboos and lack of knowledge. The main event of this campaign is already underway… RIDING FOR OUR LIVES: CANCER.VIVE RIDE 2014 On 26 September 2014 at 12.30pm, an epic 10-day journey kickstarts at Pretoria Girls’ High School in Tshwane, returning to Gauteng on 5 October after riding more than 2 300km through Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Free State. This is no ordinary joyride; these are motorcyclists with a mission: over 50 cancer survivors, supporters, crew and media will be flying the Cancer.vive flag to bring education and a message of hope and inspiration to over 10 000 people – they are living proof that cancer can be beaten.   You can help this amazing cause: You may pledge a donation by simply SMSing the name of any survivor to 42356. The SMS will cost you just R30. (If you don’t know a survivor, you may SMS your own name). Follow the ride, help raise awareness and send messages of encouragement to the riders and people living with cancer on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram or visit Cancer.vive to learn more....
