Maybelline Master Kajal Kohl Liner

Untitl

Aren’t these liners just beautiful?? Granted, I may have a little extra love for them because they remind me of my belly dancing days, but I have found myself reaching for Pitch Black every day since I received it about a month ago.

I think both Oriental Gold and Lapis Blue are absolutely beautiful, but these are not shades that I can pull off. Black liner will forever stay my favourite. And Pitch Black is exactly that. If dark and smouldering is the look you are after, this liner will be the one for you.

What makes this liner stand out from the crowd is the fact that it’s a cone-shaped liner. If you want that super precise, thin line, you may only get that from the first couple of applications. But that’s not actually the point of this liner. The sharpness quickly wears off and you are left with a rounder point. Maybe not as round as mine, but I have to admit that I have not been using it exactly how you’re supposed to.

A cone kajal has to be applied in a sideways sweep and not a direct angle. I have just been using it like I do any other pencil liner, and even though the point is not sharp anymore, I still get a beautiful line on my upper lashline.

I love using it to line both my upper and lower waterlines. The formula is super gentle and the liner is soft enough to glide on with ease. Because it does not irritate my eyes, it is perfect to darken the waterline and I can also get in between my lashes to get the upper lashline nice and dark. No eyeliner has lasted a whole day on my lower waterline, even the ones in my stash that claim to be waterproof, but this one seems to be outlasting them all.

I also find that the shape of the pencil makes it very easy to handle. And I like the look of it too.

This is a product that I will most definitely purchase for myself.

The Master Kajal liners are available from May ’14 and will retail at ZAR110.

Nimue Active Hand Repair

I do not have pretty hands. That’s a fact. The main reason is because the skin on my hands are extremely sensitive, I suffer from constant eczema flare-ups and the skin is incredibly thin and crapey because of years and years of cortisone use. I try to avoid using cortisone creams, but sometimes it just hurts too much and I have to reach for the evil stuff (like this morning). What also didn’t help my confidence, was a ‘dronkie’s’ comment about 10 years ago… ‘wow, your hands look so old’. Cow. Anyway, taking all of this into account, I am always on the lookout for hand creams and treatments to soothe, moisturise and protect my hands. They work hard and they deserve to be cared for.

At our most recent #BloggersWhoBless event I received a Nimue hand cream. I was very excited about this pretty tube as I have only once tried a product from this brand (eons ago), but I was very impressed with it.

What Nimue says about their Active Hand Therapy:

‘Active Hand Repair improves and controls the problem of “age spots” on the hands and arms. AHA’s improve skin texture and exfoliate dead, damaged skin. Enhanced moisture retaining capacity. Kigelia Africana assists in several skin conditions: psoriasis, eczema, solar keratosis, skin rashes and restores the skin.’

What I say:

As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I applied a medicated cream to my hands this morning. The reason: my skin is red, inflamed, itchy and sore. When my eczema is so bad, my hands can become extremely dry and cracked and you would think that a rich, heavy cream would be needed, but those sometimes just make it worse as a heavy cream that ‘sits’ on the skin tends to make me itch. Okay, I am seriously going into a lot of detail here, but I want you to understand why this cream works for me. This cream sinks into my skin immediately and there is no greasy residue. This cream is extremely soothing and my hands feel better as soon as I’ve applied it. My hands feel soft and smooth and the feeling lasts. I really feel that this cream helps to repair and heal my skin. I can’t really comment on the effect on age spots as I don’t really have many of those (yet), but for sensitive skin that suffers from a condition like eczema, this cream is pure gold.
